History
The Estoril Tennis Club, founded on August 24, 1945, has been in existence for over 70 years and is one of the most emblematic clubs in the Region and the Country.
The initiative to create the Estoril Tennis Club came from three people, José António Benito Garcia, Joaquim Serra e Moura and Manuel Gonçalo Gonzalez Rey (Manolo), who were part of the circle of relations of the biggest driver of Estoril's development - Fausto Figueiredo .
Due to the success achieved and the growing demand for the sport among young people, the creators of the project hired Geza Torok, an excellent professional of Hungarian origin, to help in this important mission.
This is how the CTE Tennis School was born 73 years ago, and its most emblematic and most prestigious figure in CTE and national tennis, Geza Torok.
We are proud of our history and keep the tradition, continuing the CTE School, guided by a highly specialized team, to be a reference in national tennis, working daily to provide the best training to our 350 students.
Throughout its existence, the CTE has been the stage for important national and international events, with all the main names of international and national tennis passing through its courts.
It is with great passion for tennis that since 2015 the Estoril Tennis Club has hosted the most important tennis event held in Portugal and one of the most surprising and internationally recognized tournaments on the ATP World Tour 250 professional circuit – the Millennium Estoril Open.
